Don't be too hard on yourself. During the first outbreak I was assigned to, I handled it much like you did. [ as in: not at all. ] If not for my master… Master Obi-Wan's always been able to keep a clear head. He reminded me of my duty.
It's hard. But sometimes we need to separate our personal feelings from what needs to be done.

easier said than done. especially when it's a kid involved. but you're not wrong.
( he probably needs to work on that, not going with his gut and trying to think about logic and logistics instead. it'll be a lot of work to get there, though; he's always run on heart, even for a supposedly smart kid. )
